Another one. The look is achieved in-game through the use of pixel shaders. The pipeline is always the same for the game - environments are being painted in Photoshop, characters are being done in 3d and rendered to (high resolution) sprites.
'Sein' is a 2d sidescroller that I'm working on. It's a bit of a mix between Another World and Ico, but heavily based on story. All 2d art is painted, the characters are being created in 3d and rendered as sprites - the character in this screenshot is still a placeholder.
